Resolution text below was taken from DPW 2019 Resolutions adopted by the assembled membership of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin on June 2, 2019 at its annual convention in Milwaukee, WI
19-AGE-14: ENDORSEMENT OF THE ENERGY INNOVATION AND CARBON DIVIDEND ACT (H.R. 763)
WHEREAS, fossil fuels produce carbon emissions destabilizing the Earth’s climate;
WHEREAS, distinguished scientific panels recommend a timetable of carbon emissions reductions;
WHEREAS, a timetable of annual increases in a federal fee on carbon emissions will persuade businesses and
households to reduce carbon footprints in favor of clean-energy alternatives;
WHEREAS, the resulting revenue, distributed in equal monthly dividends, will protect low-income households and
reward low-carbon households; and,
WHEREAS, border adjustments in the carbon fee will persuade international trading partners to establish carbon fees
themselves;
THEREFORE RESOLVED, the DPW endorses H.R. 763 The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act.
